According to the job search site Indeed.com, Puerto Rico is in need of professionals with training in social services, human resources, and childcare. Outside of social services careers, a bachelor's degree in psychology can also be applied to careers in customer service, business management, education, and sales management.
The University of Puerto Rico offers both a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and mental health. This program presents the history and methodology of psychology as well as the principles of learning, emotion, sensation, and perception. The psychology department of University of Sacred Heart offers a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and is designed to prepare students for interdisciplinary work in psychology. Carlos Albizu University in San Juan offers a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and includes courses in ethnopsychology, abnormal psychology, and developmental psychology. Students also choose 42 semester hours of elective courses to supplement their major studies.
