License Requirements

Like many other states, Indiana has its own set of requirements for licensure as a psychologist. You must have a doctoral degree in psychology from an institution that is accredited by the American Psychological Association.

Before you can apply for licensure, you must also meet the required hours of internship experience. As part of your doctorate degree, you must complete 1,500 hours of supervised internship experience in the field. Post-doctorate, you are also required to complete another 1,600 hours of supervised experience.

This requirement must be completed within one year of completing the doctorate program. Three professional references must be submitted before the Indiana State Psychology Board will review your application for licensure.

Once licensure has been reviewed and approved, you can then take the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP). This exam is computerized and offered several times throughout the year at designated testing locations. A passing score for licensure is required.
