Did you know that, according to Duke University's Department of Psychology website, nearly 70 percent of psychology undergraduates surveyed nationwide would choose that major again?

That's a high level of satisfaction for a degree with such variable career paths. At Duke and Wake Forest University, the majority of psychology undergraduates go on to graduate programs. That doesn't necessarily mean psychology graduate studies, however. Undergrads at these two universities pursued advanced degrees in everything from theology to education and business.

At Duke University in Durham, all students majoring in psychology must complete a "depth requirement." These are advanced studies in one of several specialty areas including cognitive psychology, developmental psychology or social psychology. The university has over 400 undergraduates in its BA and BS in psychology programs.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill offers a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science in psychology. Both programs emphasize statistical and research tools used in contemporary psychology research. Minority students may be interested in the school's Minority Psychology Student Association, which provides support and resources.

The psychology department at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem is housed in a new, state of the art facility with research labs, classrooms, study areas and lounges. The department also maintains a nearby animal research facility. Psychology undergrads can opt for a minor in neuroscience, a new and fast-growing field that examines the nervous system's role in regulating behavior.
